I don't typically share personal traveling photos but my trip to Portugal and Spain for the tail end of 2018 and intro to 2019 was too good not to. We spent two weeks traveling through Portugal and Spain by car and I wouldn't do it any other way. The getaway began in Porto, Portugal before making the way to Lisbon for New Years Eve to ring in 2019. We then drove down Portugal through dreamy seaside villages before settling in the Algarve coast in Lagos. We explored and hiked the Faro district for days, including the Seven Hanging Valleys coastline trail and Sagres, the most southwestern tip of Europe and formally believed to be the 'end of the world' in the 15th century. We made our way across the border to Southern Spain where we started in Seville, the home of flamenco dance and endless tapas before traveling to the Sierra Nevada National Park of the Andalucian range, the second highest mountain range in Europe after the Alps. We stayed in Capileira, one of three picturesque villages in the gorge of the Poqueira river in the La Alpujarra district where we hiked the Mulhacén, the highest mountain in Spain. Capileira is the highest village of the three and the last point accessible by car so very unique spot to stay. The last two stops in Spain did not disappoint. We explored Granada, land of the iconic Alhambra palace before finishing off the two week adventure in Madrid. Theme of the trip... sunset hunters / seekers / chasers... everything a travel photographers dreams are made of and you will soon see why.
